Valencia has a new technical secretary, although the Mestalla club has not announced it. Carmelo Del Pozo will be Miguel Ángel Corona’s right-hand man in the club’s sporting management and his signing seems to promote some sort of operation at the Mestalla club in the coming months.
Trained as a physical trainer, Del Pozo made his debut as Rayo’s sports director in 2010-11 and the squad he helped design achieved the long-awaited promotion to the First Division. In fact, the one from Vallecas continues to be a major success at the offices.
After an embarrassing spell at Oviedo, he lived another good season at Levante as, as Tito’s assistant in sports management, he helped the promotion squad, in the 2016-17 campaign, and also his stay in the following exercise, in 17 -18.
But after leaving the Valencian club, Del Pozo was never successful again. He failed without palliatives at Deportivo de La Coruña and did the same in his second spell at Hércules.
In any case, Del Pozo accumulates extensive experience with players who are in the middle of the First and Second and from there, a fact that seems to suggest that Valencia may move to that range in the next markets of transfer.
