the kazakh alexander bublik gave a surprise by defeating the Russian Andrei Rublev in the final of the tournament on grass in Halle (Germany) by 6-3, 3-6 and 6-3after 1 hour and 36 minutes of play.
Bublik, number 48 on the world list, has won just one tournament in his career (Montpellier 2022) and faces Rublev, world number 7, who has beaten him in the three previous meetings between the two. Only at the preliminary stage of the contest in Moscow, in 2016, the victory went to Bublik.
Rublev lost his first serve of the match and Bublik, who held his serve, ended the first set 6-3. The tables were turned in the second set with the Kazakh losing his serve in the sixth game, making it 3-6 for the Russian.
In the third set, as in the first, Rublev lost his first turn of service and Bublik who did not fail to get the sleeve 6-3, the game and the title Halle.
