The José Alvalade stadium in Lisbon has been chosen as the venue for the 2025 Women’s Champions League final by the UEFA Executive Committee, which is meeting this Wednesday in Nyon (Switzerland).
This is the second time that the final of the women’s tournament has been played in the Portuguese capital after German Wolfsburg defeated Swedish Tyreso 4-3 in the 2013-14 season in the final played in Os Belenenses.
The Sporting de Portugal stadium takes over from Eindhoven, which hosted the last match of the campaign that just ended where Barcelona beat Wolfsburg (3-2), and San Mamés, which will host the 2023-24 season .
Athens and Wroclaw, headquarters of the Conference League
Also, the UEFA executive appointed the Agia Sofia Stadium in Athens (from AEK) and from Wroclaw (from Slask Wrocklaw) as the venues for the 2024 and 2025 Conference League finals, respectively.
Regarding the Athens stadium, which is new and no international matches have been operated there before, UEFA added as a condition for its final confirmation an observation period until November 2023 in the matches played by AEK Athens in the competition in which they qualified and by the Hellenic team in the qualifying phase for Euro 2024.
On the other hand, UEFA also chose Poland as the venue for the final stage of the 2005 European women’s under-19.
