The south of Portugal will host Celta de Vigo, Benfica and Cristiano Ronaldo’s team, Saudi Al Nassr, next July, which will face off in the Algarve Tournament, the star competition of the Portuguese preseason.
The first to take the pitch at the Estádio do Algarve, in the city of Faro, will be Celta de Vigo, who will face Cristiano and his Al Nassr on July 17, the organization announced on Thursday.
The former player of Real Madrid and his teammates, who will spend most of the month of July in Portugal to prepare for the next campaign, will return to the same field on the 20th to face the Portuguese champions, Benfica.
The tournament will end on the 21st, with a rivalry between the “eagles” and the Spanish team, a team that brings back bad memories for Benfica.
The last time they met was in 1999 in the UEFA Cup, where the Portuguese suffered one of the worst nights in Europe in their history, losing 7-0 at the Balaídos stadium to Celta in the first leg.
