They are a thorn in the eye, especially in cities: e-scootchuur programs that bend around the corner at lightning speed or swing through the stunning traffic. They have a considerably higher risk of injury for the steering wheel. In the future they all have to apply for a helmet and for e-bike drivers. This is announced by Minister of Transport Peter Hanke.
The Spö politician, who herself relies on the scooter as a means of transport, wants to introduce a helmet obligation for motorized scooters, but also e-bikes. “The alarm bells shrink in the quota of the accident,” says Hanke in the Ö1 “Lunch Journal”. Almost every day people in the cities of Austria are suspected of two bicycles, e-bikes are always in danger, especially for the elderly as a result of overestimation.
Vienna trauma surgeons have also recently shown that the scooters are considerably riskier and with serious injury, especially for children and adolescents than people without motorcycle. In a second study, the road safety researchers from Munich also evaluated accidents of e-scooters and cyclists with a similar result.
Existing penalties “leave”
In principle, however, the minister wants to trust more on exchange and training than on prohibition. Penalties for carelessness to the wheel (one of the main causes of the most important accident) or illegal street races may not be tightened, for example. “There are already clear penalties here,” he notes on the races, which should not be changed with short intervals, but first “let it work.” His opinion does not change the fact that other countries, such as Switzerland, are much more difficult against racers.
Hold the burner, a lot of money for charging stations
Hanke lifted the gods people. It remains clear to the latter, as well as on the tight schedule, from 2035 no diesel and petrol cars may be approved by the EU. “I’m not the man who shifts goals.”
The Minister of Red Infrastructure for 2030 gives a clear goal: by that time, 95 percent of all Austrians must at least find a quick charging station for E-cars within a radius of ten kilometers. In general, 500 million euros flows to the expansion of the e-infrastructure.
Nevertheless, there should be enough money for the railway: the railway lines would be further expanded, regional trains would be stored.
