“Worst option” – SP-NÖ boss Schnabl criticizes tariff increase

Date:

The fact that Vienna is raising rates for water, sewage, waste disposal and parking fines despite record inflation is not only disturbing the opposition in City Hall. But some comrades don’t understand it either. After the governor of Burgenland, Hans Peter Doskozil, the Lower Austrian SPÖ leader Franz Schnabl now also criticizes the mayor of Vienna, Michael Ludwig.

He said on Twitter, among other things, on Friday: “Increasing fees – at a time when Austrians don’t know how to pay their electricity and gas bills, their groceries or the next tank of petrol – are the worst possible option.”

Burgenland does not raise rates
Already at the end of June, Doskozil criticized the fact that Wien Energie significantly increased electricity and gas prices. “For me, that’s where the test of the credibility of politics begins,” says Doskozil – namely, to what extent one does something about inflation where one can act oneself. As is known, Burgenland is breaking out of the energy alliance with Vienna and Lower Austria and is not increasing for the time being.

In Vienna, people react calmly to Schnabl’s attack. This is explained very soberly with the Lower Austrian election campaign that Schnabl is about to face.
