Australia World Cup news

Date:

Next July 20 will begin the Women’s World Cup from Australia and New Zealand. A month of competition until August 20 where the FIFA it shall have its Disciplinary Commission operational as its Appeal body for all disciplinary disputes.

And also in the case of TAS (Swiss Court of Arbitration), which must also be operational when the teams decide to use this last sporting instance before being able to turn to the ordinary courts for any claim regarding the punishment imposed at their choice, whether disciplinary for their players , for members of the coaching staff or fines to the team itself.

That is why FIFA has contacted all the teams that are classified for the World Cup that, with the aim of fulfilling the powers of this TAS between July 20 and August 20, an ad hoc Chamber will be established ( adapted for the situation) and whose duty is to obtain the arbitral resolution of prospective controversies. The ad hoc Chamber is composed of arbitrators who appear on a special list, a President and a Secretary and must act “openly” because, according to FIFA, its resolution must be issued within 48 hours from the presentation of application.

Exceptionally, the President of the ad hoc Chamber may extend said term if circumstances require. In this way, the intention is that, in the face of any sanction, action will be taken in such a way that the sanctioned player or coach can attend the next World Cup commitment, provided CAS agrees. This modus operandi was used during the last men’s World Cup in Qatar.
