Djokovic: “Nothing happened at Wimbledon”

Date:

the serbian Novak Djokovic, who beat the Argentinian in his Wimbledon debut Pedro Cachinassured that he can “play better” and expects his tennis to not be 100% after not competing since the Roland Garros final.

The man from Belgrade defeated Cachin in three sets and is on a 29-match winning streak at Wimbledon, where he has never lost in the first round.

“It was a solid match. I know I can play better, but at the same time, after a long clay-court season, coming to Wimbledon without any warm-up tournament, without any official match on grass. .. I’m hoping a little, not 100%”, explained Djokovic in a press conference.

“I’ve been in situations like this before so hopefully as the tournament progresses my tennis will improve.”

Regarding the humidity problem on the court, which forced the match to be stopped for an hour and a half, Djokovic he explained that the organization itself was “a little confused” because it was something that “hadn’t happened since the roof was put on.”

“Usually it takes 10/20 minutes from closing the roof for the air conditioning to do its job and dry out to play. In fact, that’s what happened on track 1, but we couldn’t. We wanted to, but we couldn’t , because many parts of the track were wet and slippery. You touched the ground with your palm and it was wet.”

“I think they are analyzing what is going on and the organization can certainly answer this question better than me,” added Djokovic.
