The Colombian Egan Bernal (Ineos Grenadiers), winner of the 2019 Tour and the 2021 Giro d’Italia, do not expect to “have the legs” to attack Vingegaard and Pogacar in the next Pyrenean stage, but they will try to run “with the intelligence to waste as little time as possible”.
“To fight the general I have to be on all sidesbut the Pyrenees came and I don’t think he has the legs to attack Vingegaard and Pogacar, who will be first,” admitted the cyclist from Cundinamarca.
Bernal, who is in 21st place, 43 seconds behind the leader, the British Adam Yates (UAE), believes that the next few days will not be the best for him, but he will try to run smart so as not to lose too much time.
“I’ll try to do my best and waste as little time as possible., run smart as the stage runs. There is still a long Tour left, I don’t think they are the most suitable stages for me to attack,” he concluded.
