Official: Blind signs for Girona

With Gazzaniga’s permission, Girona have cleared the transfer window for the new season. Daley Blind, after a few days with a fly behind the ear of Girona fans, arrived in the Catalan province to bring seniority and level to the rojiblanco wall. The centre-back signs until 2025.

It is a matter of time. Daley Blind has been walking in his new ecosystem for a few days. This morning he underwent a medical examination in club clothing and his official status is expected to start the preseason with a new face in Míchel’s team.

The player from the Netherlands was dining, just a month ago, with the leadership of the club. With the promotion of Mundo Deportivo, the central defender values ​​the Catalan team as his first choice, as he also wants to play in the Spanish League.

In addition, the 33-year-old defender also visited the facilities and operations center of his new club. Several members of the Girona entity accompanied Daley to show him the work areas where the team lived while the new sports city was being built.

This was his first experience in Spanish football. Blind ended his contract with the Bavarian team, Bayern Munich, where he played for only six months without much recognition. The veteran defender had his most notable role at Ajax, where he spent ten seasons, becoming one of the leaders of the Amsterdam team. His elite resume was completed at Manchester United, where he played for four seasons.

At Girona they want his versatility both in the backbone and at left-back and his long experience could contribute as did the figures of David López and Oriol Romeu. He also has over a hundred matches with the Dutch National Team and has extensive experience in the Champions League, which has reached 61 matches.

Blind will be presented in the next few days and will be ready to start the preseason this coming Monday with all his teammates. It was the second signing after Gazzaniga, although it was crowned as the first without a Girona past.
