Romario, who also played for Valencia, PSV Eindhoven, Flamengo and Vasco da Gama, was admitted on Thursday night to the Barra d’Or hospital in Rio de Janeiro after complaining of discomfort and pain, and was diagnosed with an intestinal infection.
The senator for the right-wing Liberal Party (PL), the formation led by former President Jair Bolsonaro, is being treated for an infection and his state of health is stable but there is still no forecast of medical discharge, according to his press advisory .
Romario, 57, underwent emergency surgery in 2021 where his gallbladder was removed.
