Real Mallorca played their first pre-season friendly this Friday against Unión Gurten (Austrian Third Division team), whom they beat 3-1 after an anodyne first half and a more successful second half for the islanders, especially in the last leg. Although the Austrians scored first, Mallorca, in the last rush of the game, reversed the result. New signings Toni Lato and Omar Mascarell made their debuts in Aguirre’s team.
In the first ten minutes, the Balearic team scored, but shots by Muriqi and Amath (minutes 8 and 9) were deflected into a corner by local goalkeeper Wimmer. Manu Morlanes’ powerful shot went wide (minute 35). The first half ended with a 0-0 draw.
After the break, Union Gurten’s sporadic action, along with a defensive failure by the island’s defense, led to a 1-0 lead and it wasn’t until minutes 82, 84 and 89 that Mallorca sealed the victory with actions by Maffeo, Javi Llabrés and Abdon Prats.
