Swedish vincent norman defeated Englishman Nathan Kimsey this Sunday on the first playoff hole at Barbasol Championship to win his first PGA Tour title in Nicholasville, Ky.
norman, a 25-year-old rookie, lost a one-stroke lead with a bogey on his 72nd hole before redeeming himself in the playoff. By winning the Barbasol, the tour’s alternative event to the Scottish Open, Norrman earned a PGA Tour exemption through the 2025 season. “I don’t think I can process it for a while,” Norrman said on the broadcast of Golf Channel. “I’m speechless”.
In the replay of the par-4 18th hole at Keene Trace Golf Club’s Champions Course to start the playoff, both Norrman and Sweden missed the green on their approach shots. After Kimsey hit his third shot from a greenside bunker 15 feet away, Norrman fell only 2 feet. Kimsey missed his putt for par, allowing Norrman to take advantage for the win.
norman signed 66 in the final round and kimsey a 64 to tie for first place with a 266 shot, 22 under par. Trevor Cone he missed the 12-foot birdie putt on No. 18 that would have made it a three-man playoff. His 68 earned him a tie for third with the Frenchman Adrian Saddier (66) with 21 under par.
