Sorribes needed two hours and five minutes of play to seal victory over the 22-year-old French player, in a match that started easier than it finished. Sorribes clearly dominated the French woman in the first set and didn’t allow the others to do much. Burel reacted in the second set to fight back to level the match, but the woman from Castellón ended up imposing her tennis.
The Spaniard will face the winner of the night duel between the first seed, Russian Daria Kasantkina (11), and the fifth favorite, Italian Jasmine Paolini (52).
