Remiro: “I’m trying to give back to Real what it gives me”

Date:

He arrived with few friends and little desire to move on after a ‘grilled’ training session imanolbut he opened up to the end of talking freely and calmly about all kinds of subjects. Alex Remiro (1995, Cascante) is such. Natural and talkative, now that he can, or so he says. He perfectly acknowledges and explains how grateful he is to live every day of this “incredible” club. He thinks of the Champions League with enthusiasm, although he admits that, after playing the anthem every day of last year’s final week of the competition, he has yet to play it this summer. And now he doesn’t play music anymore.

KO Silva How did you feel in the locker room?

Imagine, a leader like him with all that it means. It was a very hard blow. All serious injuries are, like Sadiq last year. But the magician is the magician.

The data without the canary clearly indicates that the team has a harder time winning. Is there respect for the situation?

We are still mourning the loss. We couldn’t think of anything else.

Second week on the job, third for you. how are you

Fine, calm down. Getting better and better sensations. More rhythm, more saves, more goals, more intense action, that’s what it’s all about.

Do goalkeepers enjoy the preseason more?

All she wants is to train hard and look good. Personally, I enjoy training and demanding myself. I want to start now.

A good part of Basque football joined in supporting Osasuna.

This will be one of the injustices of the season. With teams, as there are, in lawsuits, with debts, transfers that are not clear. And on top of that, Osasuna themselves have filed a private prosecution against themselves to declare that they have cleaned up the club. Everyone should be treated equally. As a Navarro and a football spectator, it seems to me very strong that they took their place.

Zubiaurre, his partner this season, has left.

He did well here and no one scolded him. He has been giving his best version training, demanding me. He won the renewal for his level performance in Second. He is a great person and a great professional. In the locker room he was an important piece and we will miss him.

Are you surprised you didn’t play in the Cup?

It surprised him. When I didn’t play the first one, I told myself that I had to prepare myself for the next one. I’m just as ambitious but I practice playing and if I play 51 games instead of 50, even better. Coach wants us to fight every day, he doesn’t tell us you’re going to play this and you’re going to play that.

“A goalkeeper needs another good one to squeeze him to perform.” What is true in that sentence?

bit. In my short experience here, outside and from what I saw. At the club level it is great that there are two levels of numbers, but one will not make the other better or more stopping. In the end, it’s up to you. If you push yourself to death, be calm because you will do good.

So Marrero and Ayesa are competition?

They have a level in the club. It is true that in the position of goalkeeper you have to play. Both have done the previous course. Second B and First are also true, especially if we are now, it really has nothing to do with it, but if there is a place where they can grow, live and develop, it is here. Nothing else.

The staff suffered marches this summer.

They are people who add a lot on a daily basis. Asier, Guevara, Sorloth who was very integrated… you take a lot of affection for them. While regretting that they are leaving, you wish them the best because you love and admire them. It’s a shame but it goes to our profession. I always thought you just stopped sharing costumes because they were friends forever

How was last season? Time to store in the cold.

A time. We continued to improve as players and as a team. The confirmation of the Champions League position, despite the fact that last year we also did it and we are not up to the task, confirms the growth of the club and of the whole world, the daily work and the way of training, demanding and playing. You have to go there. This is the confirmation of four years of excellent growth.

Give me a ‘highlight’ and a but.

We went on a record 9-game winning streak, and won the big two. And the but, how we compete with Rome.

23 clean sheets in 50 games and 40 goals against. Another clean sheet in one less game and the same goals conceded last year. How does this sound to you?

The same goals? oh

Have you found stability?

If that’s my resilience, it’s at a high level.

The bar is set by you.

Yes, and the piece of equipment I have. Fortunately, I have spent three years improving my numbers but they are just that, numbers. If we look at the performance, I also think that I have improved. The numbers are with me.

Did last year’s defensive numbers help you grow, and this season has your performance helped your numbers grow?

Yes, this year I saved more, I talked about it with Alemán (goalkeep coach) and I had to act more times. Other years are both allowed to throw less. But the numbers are there and it’s the result of everyone’s hard work.

How do you adapt to criticism for less than stellar performances?

Basically, depending on who’s saying it, I don’t like it. I understand that there are times when they have no idea what they are writing about. It’s not that they don’t have a clue, they don’t know why things happen like we do. I don’t attach importance to it because I try to control what affects me and what doesn’t. Also, criticism from my colleagues almost annoys me more, because I handle it well. Forget and skip. But it is true that this year in many media, in this one in particular and in others, there are strong blows. There’s nothing wrong with what you say. You write, and you do it well because it’s your job, but when we read it many times there are words that are not.

How was the Champions League celebration? Celebrate and relieve too, right?

Both ours and Anoeta’s are amazing to everyone. This is release. This is confirmed. This is ‘that’s it’. But we are both people. Achieving this is amazing but it’s more than going through the days, in the preseason, with the illusion of playing.

If you play 50 games, you’ll go to 222 games, on the brink of the Top 50 in club history. Scary?

Fear zero. It is a privilege for me. i always say Even if it doesn’t reach 200. To be able to live what I’m experiencing, to be able to represent what this club is, what the people are, the way of being, of understanding the game, of living life, I’m trying to give back what this club gave me.

Did you see it like this before you came?

I didn’t see it, but only because I didn’t know what was inside. Obviously I bet that’s true. That’s where I succeeded in my life and my career, in this lifestyle. Being a part of these people and football here.

He looks comfortable so it’s acceptable to ask. Have you thought about retiring in Donostia?

It’s hard for me to end badly after everything I’ve been through. But I have a gang, girlfriend, family, team family here. I hope this is where I end up, yes. But the world of football is what it is. Maybe in a few years I won’t be used to this equipment and I’m kind enough to understand you.
