Hungarian GP start: Piastri surprises, fantastic start from Sainz and Alonso wins a place!

Expectations are maximum before the start of the Hungarian GP of F1 2023. Two great enemies meet again on the front row: Lewis Hamilton, on pole, and Max Verstappen, from the second position. From behind, the two McLarens, with Norris 3rd and Piastri 4th, threatened to try. Fun is expected with over 500 meters separating the starting grid until the first corner. They could try it in turn 1 and also on the outside of turn 2. And there, Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri won.

Lewis Hamilton was very bad and Max Verstappen took the inside braking of turn 1 to go a little wider, mark the ground, and get himself ahead. The Englishman slowed a bit in turn 1 as Max opened up a bit and a big Oscar Piastri took advantage of that, winning the game from his teammate Lando Norris and on the outside achieved a good overtaking at turn 2 on Hamilton to take 2nd.

Sainz’s good start in Hungary

After them, the great opponent is Carlos Sainz. The Spanish rider started 11th on the soft rubber, with an attacking strategy, possibly more stops. It started perfectly, great. He went from 11th to 6th in the first meter. He just stayed behind his teammate Leclerc. The logical thing was to let Carlos pass because his approach was different and he was losing time behind Charles, but once again, Ferrari kept him behind the Monegasque.

Fernando Alonso, who started in 8th, moved to 7th place, gaining position in his return operation in a race where he wanted to take advantage of the extreme heat on the asphalt (58 degrees on the track, 29 degrees). Although on lap 9, Alonso saw how ‘Checo’ overtook him, with a superior Red Bull, and put him back in eighth position.

‘Zhou Strike’

Zhou Guanyu made a very bad start. He got stuck and lost a lot of positions. And on top of that, he overbraked at Turn 1 and rear-ended Daniel Ricciardo in his first race back in F1 with AlphaTauri. The Australian became a passenger and both Alpines were hit. In this accident, only the two French cars had to retire.
