This was confirmed by Daniel Bianchi, president of Rampla Juniors, while stressing that the said auction will be international, although he did not clarify the country where it will be held.

A treasure for 25 years

According to the leader, the ball belongs to the Uruguayan club that has been playing in the Second Division for 25 years after it was handed over by its then president Ramón Barreto, who was the line judge in that match and handed it over to the institution. along with a statement certified by a notary.

Barreto was one of those who attended the match which took place on July 7, 1974 at the Munich Olympic Stadium before more than 70,000 spectators.

That day, the Germans, who had already won the 1954 World Cup, defeated the then ‘oranje’ led by Rinus Michels, who dubbed the Clockwork Orange for their brilliance in the game and was led by Johan Cruyff, 1-2.
