Tuchel: "We are ready for battle"

Date:

Thomas Tuchel, Chelsea’s manager, was clear on Friday, on the eve of the FA Cup final his team will play this Saturday against Liverpool: “We are ready for the match.” The ‘blues’ coach said Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kanté could play against the ‘reds’ at Wembley.

Kovacic recovered from a knockout after a challenge by Dan James (Leeds), who was shown a red card for his action in Chelsea’s 3-0 win at Elland Road on Wednesday. Kanté has missed the last three games due to injury, but Tuchel hopes he can play. “They’re both trying. It’s time to take risks,” the Chelsea manager said.

Still injured, and therefore unable to enter the final, are Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ben Chilwell.

“We want to put up a tough fight against Liverpool. There are many consecutive games. It can all depend on the details. We face one of the best managers and one of the best teams in the world. We are ready.”

It was a final taste of revenge, as in February Liverpool won the Carabao Cup, the English League Cup, after beating Chelsea on penalties. The Stamford Bridge club has eight FA Cups to its name and the Anfield club has seven. The record is owned by Arsenal, with fourteen, followed by Manchester United, with twelve.
