Euskaltel-Euskadi announced that broker Mikel Bizkarra has extended his contract by two years and will therefore continue to be linked to the orange team until 2025.
Bizkarra, 33, is appreciated as “one of the pillars” of Euskaltel and “a reference for the team and his colleagues in the competition and outside it for his professionalism, dedication and commitment”.
Currently, the Biscayan cyclist is recovering from a fracture of the head of the femur in his right leg that he suffered on June 15 in La Ruta de Occitania, a rehabilitation that is “better than expected” and may allow him to ” finish the year with a number on his back”, according to the team.
“I am very happy with the renovation. Euskaltel is the home team and it is an honor to be a part of it. I am very grateful to everyone because even the first stop of the season was very good and after the injury they immediately told me that nothing has changed and they count on me”, highlights the climber from Mañaria.
With this renewal, there are already eight riders confirmed by the Basque squad for 2024. after the announced incorporations of Nicolás Alustiza, Iker Mintegi and Unai Zubeldia and the continuation of Enekoitz Azparren, Xabier Berasategi, Txomin Juaristi and Andoni López de Abetxuko, all four have contracts effective next year.
