Sébastien Haller scored a double on Saturday for Borussia Dortmund, who advanced to the first round of the German Cup, beating TSV Schott Mainz (Fourth Division) 6-1.
Dortmund, who missed out on the Bundesliga final on the last day for the sake of Bayern, easily imposed their superiority to the delight of 11,000 of their fans who traveled to Mainz.
Haller scored with a header on 22′ and Julian Brandt converted a pass from Donyell Malen on 24′. Nils Gans closed the gap at 34′. Haller scored his second goal scored between three defenders in minute 35′.
Marcel Sabitzer (after Marco Reus’ play in 57′) and Malen after a quick combination in 79′ scored the fourth and fifth. Youssoufa Moukoko rounded off the 1-6 scoreline in the 85th minute. Borussia Dortmund started the Bundesliga by taking on Cologne.
