2-1: Philadelphia, Messi’s rival at Inter

Date:

Chris Donovan scored this Friday a goal in the substitute time which the Philadelphia Union The American lost 2-1 Queretaro Mexican to enter the semifinal of League Cup, where they will face Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami. In the quarterfinals, Venezuelan Jesús Bueno was the other scorer for the Union, while Ángel Sepúlveda scored a goal for Argentine coach Mauro Gerk’s team.

Philadelphia advanced lines in the first few minutes and after a few mistakes, they took the lead on the scoreboard. In the 10th minute, Jack McGlynn took a shot that bounced off a defender and the rebound fell to Bueno, who made it 1-0 with his left foot.

The lead allowed the Union to relax and lend the ball to the Roosters, who had 63 per cent of possession in the first half, with no depth to trouble Jamaican goalkeeper Andre Blake.

Union neutralized Querétaro’s offense in the first minutes of the second half, however a defender’s clearance error allowed Jaime Gómez to steal the ball and hit a cross from the left wing to the far post that was beaten by Sepúlveda, which made it 1-1.

Quinn Sullivan, who was on the field for less than a minute, tried to give Philadelphia the win, but his midrange shot was saved by goalkeeper Fernando Tapia in the 83rd.

Philadelphia continued in search of victory and took advantage of the dismissal of Omar Mendoza to win the game in the final minute of 10 with a Kai Wagner cross that Donovan, from inside, converted to make it 2-1.
