Spaniard Mohamed Katir, who passed the first qualifying round of the 1,500 meters of the World Championships in Budapest with 3:34.34, said he ran differently, more aggressively.
“This time I have raced mentally differently, more aggressive and that’s how it was,” said Katir after starting second behind the Dutchman Niels Laros.
Mario García Romo and Adel Mechaal also qualified in the 1,500 men’s this Saturday afternoon.
“I have run hard because as always I prefer to arrive a bit tight, so it doesn’t get complicated,” Katir assured in press statements.
When asked if he will follow the same strategy in future races, he said that because he doesn’t know who he will be up against, right now he can’t predict how he will run.
“I don’t know who I will be with on Sunday, when I see it I will study it with my coach,” said Katir who won the gold medal in the 1500 meters at the Krakow 2023 European Games.
On the other hand, Katir admitted to being “nervous” before and during the race.
In the same way, he expressed his optimism and announced that he hopes to run in the final.
