There is no crumple zone on a bicycle: a cyclist (42, from Bad Aussee, Styria) was seriously injured on Saturday afternoon when she was hit in Gosaumühle by the car of a Czech tourist (29), who had miscalculated when overtaking and therefore left too early back had to change lanes.
A 29-year-old Czech tourist was driving on the B166 from Bad Goisern towards Hallstatt at around 12:15 p.m. on Saturday. In the Gosaumühle car park, despite the traffic, he overtook a 42-year-old cyclist who was traveling in the same direction.
Returned to job prematurely
Due to oncoming traffic, the 29-year-old had to switch back to his lane prematurely and collided with the cyclist with the right rear half of his vehicle. It fell and came to rest in the meadow next to the road. The 42-year-old was taken to the Salzkammergut Klinikum Bad Ischl after emergency medical care with serious injuries.
