Serbian central defender Srdjan Babic, who played the last two seasons for UD Almería and has a contract until 2026, is now a player for Russian Spartak Moscow, where he has been committed for three seasons.
The cost of the operation is unknown, although there is talk of around five million for the transfer of Babic, who was initially on loan from Red Star with an option to buy, which was carried out at the beginning of the 2022/23 season.
In this way, the Serbian closed a brilliant period of two seasons in Almería, a team where he was an important player not only in achieving promotion to the highest category, but also in reaching the goal of staying in the First Division.
Babic, who formed a good defensive tandem with Rodrigo Ely, played a total of 75 games with UD Almería. In his first campaign he lined up in 40 games, 37 in the Liga and 3 in the Copa del Rey. Last year, in the highest category of Spanish football, he played 34 games, and he was the author of three goals, doing so against Rayo Vallecano and Valencia, at home, and against Celta de Vigo. In the current season he played his first league match against Rayo Vallecano.
UD Almería, which announced the operation through its social networks, showed appreciation for Babic’s “professionalism and commitment to UD Almería, while wishing all the luck in his new professional phase”.
