The world footballers union FIFPRO has published a statement in which it supports the AFE and in which it requests that “steps be taken to address the behavior of the president of the RFEF (Luis Rubiales)” but also requests that it be investigated “by virtue of Ethical code of FIFA”.
FIFPRO considers “deep regrettable that such a special moment for Spanish soccer players, taking place in front of a global television audience, would be marred by the inappropriate behavior of someone whose role requires so much responsibility.”
The letter ends by saying “the physical approach It is not appropriate or acceptable in any context to uninformed and uninvited players, and especially when they are placed in a position of vulnerability by someone in a position of power over them in their workplace.”
