Mohammed KatirEuropean 5,000 meter runner-up, declared this Thursday, after qualifying for the final of budapest world cupwho will face the race, as his compatriot Carlos Alcaraz said, “the best tennis player in the world, with head, heart and balls”.
Katir, who won his heat and reached the fast track in the 5,000 final, spoke to the press for a minute, a stark contrast to four days ago when he was eliminated in the 1,500 and unable to compete for the medal.
“I had been warning for a year that I will fold. Wherever I am, I will fight. Sometimes things don’t work out but I know how to lose and I know how to win. I can mentalize myself for both things. I come psyched up very well, I know try to train, you also have to train your mind, which is the motor of our body”, said Katir, in the mixed zone of Budapest National Athletics Center.
“Yesterday is past. I want to take a time machine and fix the mistake. Mistakes are to learn. No one is perfect. If it was perfect, it would be brutal”, declared the Murcian athlete, who assured that he will go “with desire” to the final of the 5,000, where he will meet the current world champion, the Norwegian Jakob Ingebrigtsen.
“As Alcaraz says, the best tennis player in the world and my land, head, heart and balls. Let’s go with everything on Sunday,” he concluded.
