Sara Sorribes, one step away from the title in Cleveland

Sarah Sorribesnumber 95 in the world ranking, qualified this Friday for the final of the Cleveland WTA 250 tournamentby defeating the German Tatjana María, number 49, in the semifinals, and the title will be played this Saturday against the Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova.

Sorribes, already a semifinalist in Cleveland in 2021, won 6-4 and 6-3 against Mariaa rival who defeated him the only precedent, in Tokyo 2016.

The Spanish player, 27 years old, will fight for the second title of his career on the hard surfaceafter that Guadalajara 2021.

He is the lowest ranked tennis player to reach the final in Cleveland.

Her opponent this Saturday is Alexandrovaworld number 22 and fourth favorite, defeating Chinese Lin Zhu 7-5, 6-2 in the semifinals.
