Saudi Arabia is not only blowing up the football market by bringing in top players from European clubs. It also imported renowned coaches like Roberto Mancini which will assume the choice of the Arab country as announced by its Federation today.
A former coach at other teams Lazio, Inter, Manchester City and Zenit, Mancini resigned in a surprise move on August 13 to continue managing the Italian team and is now in charge.
Mancini will be unveiled tomorrow in Riyadh as the new coach of Saudi Arabia. He signed a contract until 2027 in exchange for 25 million euros net per year and will debut on September 8 against Costa Rica. In his place Luciano Spalletti was named in charge of the Italian national team.

Mancini relieved the French Herve Renard, who in March stopped directing Saudi Arabia after he led one of the great surprises of the Qatar 2022 World Cup by beating Argentina 2-1 in the first round of group matches.
That defeat was the beginning of the albiceleste’s road to the title. Renard left office to take the reins of the French women’s team.
European Champion with Italy
Mancini took the reins of Italy in May 2018 and, in addition to winning Euro 2020, he went on a 37-game unbeaten streak between September 2018 and October 2021.
But the ‘azzurra’ were left out of the 2022 World Cup and had a bad start to the qualifying phase for Euro 2024 when they lost at home against England (1-2).
