Maria Perez

If there is an example of a perfect season, it is the one signed this year by María Pérez, with two world titles in the 20km and 35km walks in Budapest, a European gold in Podebrady and a massive 35km world record with 2h37’15 . María was able to overcome the technical problems that plagued her last year and ended up with disqualifications. Like her teammate Álvaro Martín, the woman from Granada will be the main favorite at Paris 2024 to win two golds in the 20km and marathon relay

Mo Katir

The Murcian of Moroccan origin has been one of the most outstanding middle-distance runners all season and lived up to expectations, returning from Budapest with a silver medal in the 5,000m. He was a favorite to win two, but in the 1,500 he failed in the semifinals. Despite the grudge, Katir is getting closer and closer to Jakob Ingebrigtsen’s level. At Paris 2024 she is also aiming to medal, but she has not yet decided whether she will compete in the 1,500 or 5,000 – she will do just one.

Adrian Ben

At 25 years old, Adrián Ben completed the best performance of his life in the outdoor 800m and showed that he is a contender for everyone for the next championships. In Budapest he was fourth in the final with a time of 1’44”91, just eight hundredths of a medal away. In the semifinals he managed to break the barrier of 1’44 (1’43’92), the best mark of his life. The reward for a great season came at the European Indoor Championships in Istanbul where he achieved continental gold.

Christina Montesinos

The Catalan walker, trained by Valentí Massana, came close to surprising in his World Cup debut in Budapest with an excellent fifth position in the 35km walk won by María Pérez. Montesinos made his international debut last year at the World Cup in Oman and, since then, he has not stopped making extraordinary progress. This year he was the bronze medalist at the Podebrady European Cup and his next big goal is Paris 2024, where he can dream of winning a medal.

6 Mario García Romo

After finishing fourth in the world in his debut last year at the Oregon World Cup, Mario García Romo is looking for his first universal medal, after the European bronze he won in 2022 in Munich. In Budapest he was the only Spaniard to reach the 1,500m final, but he could not get past sixth place (3’30”26) in a very fast race led by the British Josh Kerr, ahead of Ingebrigtsen. Romo lives in the United States and is another one of those hoping to win a medal at Paris 2024.
