City announced the signing of Matheus Nunes

Date:

He City of Manchester this Friday closed the signing of Matheus Nunes for 53 million pounds (62 million euros), from Wolverhampton Wandererswhere he rebelled to force the ‘Sky Blues’ to leave.

Nunes, who Guardiola once described as one of the best footballers in the world when he played for Sporting Lisbon, stopped training with Wolves when the club rejected the first offer, more than 50 million.

The player remained in his thirteenth until Wolves on Wednesday accepted an offer, slightly higher, from City, which required the Portuguese to replace the four-month absence of Kevin de Bruyne.

Nunes, who has completed his medical, has signed a five-year contract in Manchester and becomes City’s fourth signing this summer, joining Mateo Kovacic, Josko Gvardiol and Jeremy Doku.

Wolves signed him last season, after impressing at Sporting de Portugal, and in his first year in the Premier he scored a goal that was voted best of the season. This year, he started as a starter, leaving an impressive image in the 1-0 defeat against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

“The opportunity to work with Pep Guardiola, one of the best coaches ever, and with some of the best in the world, is something I cannot refuse. I learned a lot in my first season at Wolves and I’m excited to continue to improve at Premier,” Nunes said. With this signing, City consider the squad closed.
