The G20 Heads of State and Governmentgathered this weekend at New Delhi (India)they declared their strong support for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The G20 Presidency is currently held by India with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Declaration says: “We reiterate our commitment to the G20 as the main forum for global economic cooperation and its continued functioning in the spirit of multilateralism, on the basis of consensus, with all members participating on an equal footing in all its events, including The hills”.
And he continued: “We also look forward to the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris in 2024 as a symbol of peace, dialogue between countries and inclusivity, with the participation of all.”
IOC President Thomas Bachwelcomed the statement and said in a statement issued by the IOC in Lausanne: “We would like to thank the G20 Leaders, including for the first time the African Union, for their invaluable support. The IOC will continue to work fully . commitment to achieving these goals, which are ours as well.”
The Group of Twenty (G20) consists of 19 countries (Germany, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, United States, France, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, United Kingdom, Republic of Korea , Russia, South Africa and Turkey), the African Union (AU) and the European Union (EU), whose presidency is now held by Spain. G20 members represent about 85% of global GDP, more than 75% of global trade and about two-thirds of the world’s population.
