The 39 football players who signed the statement to demand “strong changes in the leadership positions of the RFEF and, in particular, in the field of women’s football” are exposed to very serious sanctions if they do not respond to a possible call from selection.
Article 23 of the current sports law includes the duties of athletes “to attend the calls of sports teams when they are duly summoned, under the terms and conditions established by regulation.” Failure to attend can lead to a suspension of the federation’s license for between two and 15 years, preventing an athlete from competing for their club.
Article 65 of the RFEF disciplinary code also considers failure to attend a call as a very serious violation, with fines of 3,006 to 30,051 euros and license withdrawal for two to five years. If they are not called, as was the case with ‘Las 15’, the content of sports law cannot be applied
