Sporting beat Tenerife with a goal from Insua in extra time

Date:

A goal from Insua in extra time gave Sporting three points against Tenerife who won the two games they played away from home but this time they were outclassed by a more ambitious Gijón team in 90 minutes.

The first minutes were alternating dominance but Sporting came out better from the wings, although it was the Canaries who managed to get on the scoreboard by taking advantage of a defensive error when picking up the ball that fell at the feet of Roberto Lopez who shot low out of reach Yanez.

A game with no apparent danger ended with a goal against the desperation of the local fans and five minutes later the referee disallowed a goal Djurdjevic by hand in a tire game in the small area.

In the game before Tenerife’s goal, the red-and-white central defender Robert Pier was injured, which also influenced the defensive error of his teammates and forced the coach to bring in Cali Izquierdoz.

The decision, which was confirmed by VAR, raised protests from fans. Sporting secured the tie thanks to a shot almost on the goal line of Gaspar Campos after a measured center from Cote that Tenerife defenders couldn’t reach.

A few things changed on restart, alternate domain but no occasion So the coaches decided to move the bench to make some changes in search of more bite and the locals were the first to test the Canarian defense.

There are two action speeds, the first starring Hassan centering on a low ball he barely missed Djurdjevic but if Queipo Even though he was already over heeled, he only forced a corner.

The second one starred Cote and Otero but this time the defense was more populated and attentive and the shot ended up in the hands of Soriano. There was a third chance for the red and white when Locic fouled Hassan in a corner of the area which Cote launched and the ball hits the crossbar in the best offensive minutes of the Gijón team.

There is a quarter of an hour to go to the red and white range Roque Mesa made his debuta signing outside the summer market, as he was without a team and came to Sporting to provide experience in midfield.

The locals turned to attack but Tenerife is well planted and even they sometimes struggle to solve local attacks in the end game where again there is a lot of delay.

Tenerife were shy of trying in extra time, but the home defense was very confident and that earned them a last chance that Insua didn’t waste by going to a corner to connect a good header enough for three points to stay at home.

As against Burgos, Sporting almost achieved victory in the last minute of extra time and adds to their matches in El Molinón by victories.
