Rahm led the Spanish representation at the PGA Championship

Date:

Jon Rahm from Biscay, Sergio García from Castellón and Pablo Larrazábal and Adri Arnaus from Barcelona will represent Spain this weekend at the PGA Championshipsecond of four golf ‘Majors’ of 2022 and played from Thursday to Sunday at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma (United States).

Rahm arrived in Tulsa as number 2 in the world and aims to add his second major, after winning last year’s US Open. He is the only player who can take world number one status from Scottie Scheffler. For this he needs to win the tournament and for the American to tie in fifth with two other players or finish in a worse position.

The player from Barrika returned to competition in this major after returning to winning ways on May 1 at the Mexico Open in Vidanta, placing him seventh in the PGA Tour FedEx Cup.

This year Biscayan has played ten tournaments, with one victory (in Mexico), second place in the Sentry Tournament of Champions and third in the Farmers Insurance Open as best result. His victory at Vidanta, three weeks ago, recharged the Basque golfer’s batteries.

Sergio García, number 47 in the world rankings, has participated this year in eight championships, who finished twelfth in the Slync.io Dubai Desert Classic, of the DP World Tour, as the best result. The man from Castellón went to Tulsa in search of his second big, after the 2017 Masters.

Pablo Larrazábal earned the right to play this major, the sixteenth in his career and the first since he was at the British Open and PGA in 2017. He only made the cut in three editions of the British Open (2008, 2011 and 2012) and in one at the PGA (2011). His best result in a ‘major’ was thirtieth place in ‘British’ in 2011.

The 39-year-old Barcelona will play in the PGA Championship for the eighth time, where he only reached the weekend once, in 2011 and finished with forty -five spots. After winning ISPS Ready and entering 68th place in the world, he earned the right to play in Tulsa, as well as at the British Open.

Adri Arnaus, who is also from Barcelona, earned the right to play in the PGA after winning the Catalunya Championship. This will be his third ‘big’, after the US Open (58th) and British Open (cut) of 2019.
