Luton Town need to start reacting if they don’t want their season to get complicated. Adding the first point of the season could have been positive if it wasn’t against a Wolverhampton that played almost an hour of the game with one less man and was still ahead on the scoreboard (1-1).
Gary O’Neil’s side weren’t exactly anything to write home about and they dedicated themselves to defending themselves throughout the game and even more so after Bellargde made a fool of themselves by attacking from Lockyer’s ground, which he hit with his leg.
However, and being inferior, Wolverhampton managed to hit and find the goal. In a counterattack where Lockyer showed a slowness unlike that of an elite player, Neto ate his toast and hit a hard left foot shot from the near post that surprised Kaminski (50′).
Wolves couldn’t hold the advantage for long, completely lying down in their own half and just working in defence, and ended up conceding the equalizer from a penalty. Joao Gomes made a handball and Morris missed the maximum penalty (64′).
The rest of the game was a testament and a miss for Luton, who battled to seal their first Premier League victory but had to settle for a bitter draw.
Draw between Palace and Fulham
The jump to the European positions is still out of reach for Crystal Palace and Fulham, who are tied at zero in the time they can apply for that goal, limited so far to the middle of the classification, with their coincident record a victory in the last five days for each of them.
The two are left with eight points, still four points behind Europe and with seven points ahead of relegation, in both cases awaiting Sunday’s results, which could take them further from fifth place or closer to the penultimate spot.
