Union Berlin, who share a group with Real Madrid in the Champions League, lost this Saturday at home to Hoffenheim 0-2, losing touch with the teams at the top of the table.
Hoffenheim’s goals were scored by André Kramaric, with a penalty in the 22nd minute, and Maximilian Beier, with a left-footed shot in the 38th minute.
The victory allows Hoffenheim to stay in the chasing group, one point below Bayern who beat Bochum 7-0 today.
That group also includes Leipzig, who beat Borussia Mönchengladbach 0-1 away with a goal from Timo Werner, and Stuttgart, who beat Darmstadt 3-1 on Friday.
Borussia Dortmund stayed one point adrift of the chasing group after beating Wolfsburg 1-0 with a goal from Marco Reus.
In other matches played today, Augsburg beat bottom team Mainz 2-1. The final match of the afternoon between Werder Bremen and Cologne remains pending.
The day is completed tomorrow, Sunday, when Bayer Leverkusen can once again go level on points with Bayern if they beat Heidenheim. Tomorrow’s other matches will be played by Eintracht Frankfurt and Freiburg.
