Marc Marquez: "I have the motivation to fight for a title, but with this team"

Date:

Marc Marquez is the latest star to go through ‘La Caja de DAZN’ to discuss her plans for the present and the future. Among them, ‘93’ featured the idea that, in the future, he would like to retire Repsol-Hondato whom he swore allegiance.

“Eight happy years and two not. This is the group of my life. I always say, why not retire here? I continue with the idea ”, highlighted Márquez. “Beyond testing other brands or other teams, I have other motivations. Now, I have the motivation to fight for a title, but with this team, not with another”, he added.

Márquez also said he has changed his approach to races. “I take weekends as fun, not as an obligation to go out and win. If I finish fourth, fourth, if I finish fifth, fifth, if I finish sixth, sixth. Success will come, hopefully ”, he reflected. Also because, because of the injuries, he had to change his way of driving. “I have to go with a different riding style, I have to make different strategies.. In experience, it’s not the style I like the most, but well … Sometimes, what a person doesn’t like is what works ”, he says.

Despite these changes in the way he approaches races, Márquez stressed that his motivation remains the same: to win. “To run for fun, you ride a motor, you quietly go on a Sunday on a circuit without pressure and you ride laps. But on a circuit, you compete. I am here to compete and celebrate again. Will it be a title? I don’t know, but I hope I can fight, that would be good ”, he declared.

Márquez also has good words valentino rossi, leaving the controversies of the past. “He is the rider who moves the most. And the admiration and what he did in motorcycling and, on the track, what he taught the many riders to climb, is still there. And when he retired, I said, I’m not ashamed, “he said.”When I was a kid, two riders scored: one was Valentino Rossi and here in Spain was Dani Pedrosa. I had Valentino Rossi as an idol in MotoGP and Dani Pedrosa really followed ”, he also praised Pedrosa.

Marc acknowledged that his former ally had been a reference for him. “I learned a lot in 2013. He hit me behind him and threw the whole race behind him. DAni has been in MotoGP for eight, ten years and also, I have to learn from someone, and she taught me a lot. I saw his telemetry and well, my riding style, yes, after you bring it to your field, but Dani controlled the bike ”, he said.

Finally, Márquez said who he was referring to outside of motorcycles: Rafael Nadal. “For me, when he really became a reference, it was when I met him at a gala in 2010., who had just won my first World Cup and he came, he met you, he greeted you … And then, eventually, he gave you the phones, he sent you a message. There, it becomes a benchmark ”, he closed.
