A brand new BMW had to be rescued from its predicament by the fire brigade right in front of the town hall in Maria Enzersdorf.
It could have been worse, one is sure of that in Maria Enzersdorf in the Mödling district. Because a manhole cover had been removed for unknown reasons in a parking lot directly in front of the town hall. There was no indication of the danger zone. Luckily no one fell, but a driver drove her front left wheel straight into the open axle – and especially in her vehicle, which was only five weeks old.
Since the BMW was stuck, she had no choice but to call the fire department. The Florianis were particularly careful not to cause further damage when the new car was recovered. After almost half an hour the job was done and the lid was put back on the shaft.
Post box in the ditch
However, the Zwettl fire brigade was less prudish: they lifted a broken-down PO Box with a crane from the ditch after it ran off the road near Rieggers. And in Lunz am See, a motorist lost control of his vehicle in a parking lot: the Audi fell from the two-meter high embankment and remained there, unable to drive – firefighters deployed!
