Chelsea are starting to show signs of recovery, although it is better not to get too excited, and they achieved their second successive victory, this time with more authority against Fulham (0-2).
This was certainly the best game for the Blues so far this season. In terms of football, at least, with and without the ball the team showed a great performance and limited Marco Silva’s team to the extreme, finding themselves completely overwhelmed.
The most unusual record of the rivalry without a doubt is Cole Palmer. Entering from the right profile, the young attacker gave meaning to Chelsea’s game and connected all the players of the team, finally ensuring that possessions flowed to the London team, something that had never happened before until now.
The first few minutes made it clear that Pochettino’s men came out with the confidence of playing a good game. Broja, surprised at the point of attack, missed after a few seconds almost into an empty goal. Mudryk did it too, although more active than on other occasions and decisively, because from his boots came the first goal, as well as his in the Chelsea shirt, which ended after a good transition play (18′).
Fulham had not yet recovered when they received another blow. And so brutally because Ream lost the ball coming from the back and then, just trying to grab the ball from Broja, he hit his foot and favored Chelsea’s second (20′).
With that income the ‘blues’ didn’t take their foot off the accelerator. Not so much at times, because this is the biggest handicap so far in the team, but with the dominance of the midfield, with Caicedo and Enzo increasingly understanding and freed from responsibility on the ball thanks to Palmer.
In fact, there was no news from Fulham throughout the game, but especially in the first half, where they managed only one shot. The game continued like this after the break, with Chelsea comfortable and enjoying themselves and just missing a third. He held it, with a shot from Maatsen that hit the post and the same rebound, with a great save from Leno to Enzo.
Chelsea didn’t need it, though, as they secured their first victory away from home this season and their second in a row.
