An operation by the volunteer fire brigade and water rescue team in Bruck an der Glocknerstrasse in Salzburg ended slightly. A resident had forgotten to apply the handbrake of his parked car. It became independent and ended up in the Salzach.
A man from Pinzgau just wanted to quickly pick up his children, parked his car not far from the school in Bruck on Glocknerstrasse and waited for his loved ones. When he returned, the car was gone. The vehicle rolled into the slightly sloping parking lot and fell into the Salzach.
Vehicle completely submerged
Shortly after 7 p.m. the man finally alerted the emergency services. Volunteer fire brigades from Bruck and Zell am See and several water rescue teams quickly arrived on the scene. The man described the situation to the rescuers and admitted that he had forgotten to use the handbrake.
The car had completely disappeared in the Salzach, the rear was just visible. The water rescue and fire service attached rescue straps to the vehicle and pulled it out of the Salzach with a crane. The operation was over at 9:30 PM.
