The French Adrian Mannarino won his second title this yearthe fourth of his career, by defeating the American Sebastian Korda in the final of the Astana tournament by 4-6, 6-3 and 6-2.
Sixth seed and number 34 in the ATP, Mannarino recovered from the first set down and didn’t let it scare him due to the theoretical superiority of his rival, 28th in the world and fifth favorite in the Kazakh event.
A break of serve in the ninth game was enough for Korda to take the first set.
In the second ‘break’ of the American came even earlier, for 2-1. But this time there was a reaction from Mannarino, solid enough to recover the deficit by leveling at 3-3 and earning a second break (5-3) that put the set on a plate.
The margin narrowed at the start of the third set, but Mannarino finally established himself by breaking to love and consolidating for 3-1. The Frenchman found his streak and began to take advantage of it. At another break, 5-2, the close of the match was a formality.
This ATP 250 title, on hard court, joins the one he already won this year at Newport on grass. Previously, Winston-Salem was scored in 2022 and ‘s-Hertogenbosch in 2019.
