Louis Van Gaal (72) has been recovering from prostate cancer for several years. The Dutchman, who has left everything to dedicate himself to taking care of his health, has said on more than one occasion that the first thing is to take care of himself before returning to the bank. Ajax has announced the inclusion of the former coach of FC Barcelona and the Netherlands national team as an advisor. In this way he returned to an Ajax team where he was coach between 1991 and 1997. The club believes that Van Gaal’s experience can be useful in a time like the present, where the club is experiencing a delicate situation both institutionally and sports.
Van Gaal will advise the Ajax Supervisory Board (SB) on technical football issues. “I want to help Ajax. My life mostly takes place in Portugal and that can easily be included in this role as an external advisor. I am glad to put my football knowledge at the service of the Supervisory Board. The sports path must to go up and we all can and should contribute to it,” he said.
