The Belgian Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin Deceuninck) won the sprint in the third edition of the Dutch event Elfsteden racewith departure and arrival in Leeuwarden and a route of 204.8 km.
A test called sprinters in which he imposed his speed Jasper Philipsenthe king of Tour de France with 4 sprint victories, with a time of 4h.35.42 won the duel against the Dutchman Olav Kooij (Jumbo Visma) and the Belgian Davide Bomboi (DTT Unibet).
It was the 15th victory for the 25-year-old cyclist from Ham, the same winner of the green jersey at the Tour de France, where he was crowned the best sprinter of the season and of the current peloton.
The test was marked by a breakaway of 13 runners where three from Alpecin and the same number from Jumbo Visma entered. Once the peloton threw in the towel, the outcome was clear, with a sprint finish and Philipsen and Kooij as clear candidates.
The young Kooij, 21 years old, a youngster who has already shown his level by winning in Paris Nice, ran from distance to surprise Philipsen, but the Belgian, who was very well launched by his teammates, only had to stay on the wheel of the Dutchman and ‘finish’ it 150 meters from the line, where he achieved his 38th victory as a professional.
Philipsen succeeded Dutchman Elmar Reinders, winner in 2022, on the list of winners.
