He F1 Qatar GP This is the fourth of the year to be held in the sprint weekend format of 6 held throughout the current 2023 F1 season. Therefore, This weekend it will be held using the renewed format already used in the previous GPs of Azerbaijan, Austria and Belgium of this year: with qualifying today for the Sunday grid and a second classification held on Saturday for the short sprint race.

In this new format, as already happened in Baku, the Red Bull Ring and Spa, there will be 2 classifications: one on Friday and another for Saturday. The difference is that Friday’s classification will organize the starting grid for Sunday’s race, while Saturday’s classification will be in a shorter format and will only be valid to organize the grid for Saturday’s sprint race.
- Friday: Free 1 and sorting: After the dispute in the first training sessions, the real fire starts in the classification. Friday’s qualifying session will be Q1, Q2 and Q3 and will dictate the starting positions for Sunday’s race.
- Saturday: ‘shoot-out’ classification. Saturday will be a free day that will not affect the rest of the weekend. Whatever happens on Saturday, the starting order for Sunday’s race will be determined in advance by the positions achieved in Friday’s qualifying.The ‘shoot-out’ classification will be shorter, in the format Q1, Q2 and Q3, and will only serve to set the starting grid for Saturday’s sprint race. It is no longer mandatory to start with a new tire in Q3 after Lando Norris was unable to do so in Baku in Q3 and was left without leaving the track.
- Saturday: sprint race. Then he will compete in the sprint race. Saturday’s sprint race will award 8 points to 1st, 7 to 2nd and so on to 8th, which will earn 1 point.
- Sunday: Race. The grid is determined by Friday’s qualifying. The points of a normal race are distributed (25 for the winner, 18 for the 2nd, 15 for the 3rd… and 1 point for the author of the fastest lap if he in the Top-10).
