FIA reaction after fainting and extreme conditions at F1 Qatar GP

The International Automobile Federation (FIA) issued a statement in which this was contrary to what happened at the Qatar F1 GP, where several drivers passed out and had serious problems, such as heat stroke, due to the extreme conditions they fought this Sunday. In this sense, we must remember that in the next year of the F1 calendar (2024), the Qatari event is scheduled to be held penultimately, from November 29 to December 1, something that could solve the problem experienced by the drivers in weekend.

Despite this, the FIA assured that at the next meeting of the medical commission in Paris, various measures will be reviewed and debated to prevent this kind of thing from happening again. Among them, the inclusion of guidance for drivers is discussed, as well as the investigation of possible changes to be made so that drivers have better air flow in the cabin of their cars, and the possible recommendations for calendar changes are not excluded. so that Something similar does not happen on other routes.

For this reason, the FIA has initiated an analysis of the situation in Qatar to offer recommendations for future situations of extreme weather conditions. It should be noted that although next year’s Qatar Grand Prix is scheduled for the end of the year, when temperatures are expected to drop, the FIA prefers to take material steps now to avoid a repeat of this situation.

Various measures will be discussed at the next meeting of the medical commission in Paris. Steps may include guidance for competitors, research into changes for better cabin airflow, and recommendations for schedule changes to accommodate acceptable weather conditions, among other things. others. Research from other series, such as cross-country testing in extreme climates, will be reviewed to identify potential applications in circuit testing. The FIA’s commitment to closer cooperation between the technical, medical and safety departments under the leadership of the FIA President will facilitate this process.
