The template of Belgium is divided around Thibaut Courtois following the captaincy controversy. The question is who will take over as Kevin De Bruyne’s interim replacement and the Real Madrid goalkeeper is said to have informed his teammates that he believes he should be the one and not Romelu Lukaku to take that role.
Timothy Castagne, Fulham’s Belgian defender, has been skeptical this week about the goalkeeper’s return to the Red Devils, but doesn’t seem to be speaking for the whole group. Lukaku, for example, has opened the door wide for Courtois to join the national team when he is 100% fit. “I say this from the bottom of my heart: we must leave what happened. The day Thibaut decides to return, he will return.”
Of course, Lukaku Lukaku confirmed that Courtois “needs to talk to the players” ahead of a possible return. “Thibaut will answer for himself in the locker room,” he said of the goalkeeper, who is considered an important part of the squad that acted with selfishness and arrogance in June, when the subject of the captain came up.
