After the latter’s defeat in the round of 16 of the Chinese tournament, he is 2,240 points behind Balkan and with Russian Daniil Medvedev 1,450 away. Italian Jannik Sinner continues in fourth.
Rublev overtook Norwegian Holger Rune and Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas on the listwhile the American Taylor Fritz dropped two places, allowing the progress of the Norwegian Casper Ruud and the German Alexander Zverev.
Polish Hubert Hurkacz, winner in Shanghai, improves six places and moves to eleventh place. Bulgarian Gregor Dimitrov, butcher of Alcaraz, climbed three and sixteenth. He also beat Chilean Nicolás Jarry in the quarterfinals, now twenty-one ahead of Argentine Francisco Cerúndolo.
