CAS, helpful in resolving Semenya’s case in Strasbourg

The ECHR ruled in favor of the athlete, in a split decisionbut Coates said they “definitely need to re-examine this matter” in the Grand Chamber, as suggested by the federation.

As of 2022, there were 26 CAS resolutions that were later brought to the Swiss court.

Coates said the International Boxing Association (IBA), which was suspended by the IOC, has appealed to CAS and the case will be heard on November 16.

A CAS MEMBER IS JAILED IN BELARUS

The Australian manager reported that “unfortunately” Belarusian Aliaksandr Danilevich, a member of the CAS panel of arbitrators, is in jail, accused of a crime against national security.

“The Criminal Court of Belarus sentenced him to ten years in prison for offering legal services to people who oppose the government, which is considered contrary to national security. He remains in prison,” Coates said. .
