Lens ran aground again

Date:

The climb made by Lens in recent days stopped at the Océane stadium in Le Havre, where they did not get the victory (0-0) and extended their rise in the Ligue 1 standings.

The box of Frank Haise Sevilla’s Champions League rivals, where they top the group, are undefeated, the newly promoted team led by the Slovenian. Luke Elsner who managed, despite playing at home, to end their bad streak.

Lens scored Florian Sotoca in extra time but the goal was disallowed by VAR, which showed an obvious offside. It saved Le Havre from their third straight defeat.

The point is a relief for the local team, still far from the relegation zone. It didn’t help Lens, a far cry from last year’s positions when they achieved runner-up status and access to the Champions League.

Lens, unbeaten in four games, remains in fourteenth place, just two points away from the playoff for permanence.
