Ethiopian Amebaw and Burundian Ndikumana victories in Zornotza

The 69th International Cross of Zornotza, the highest category of the World Athletics (WA) calendar, Gold, opened this Sunday in the Biscayan town of Amorebieta the international cross season with the victories of the Ethiopian Likina Amebaw and the Burundian Celestin Ndikumana.

In the same race, as expected, dominated by the authority of African athletes, Amebaw won the sprint against his countryman Lemkin Nibret and Ndikumana reached the finish line alone and with a huge advantage over his catching up.

While the women’s race is a three-man race, the men’s race is a four-man race. From Ndikumana, Eritreans Merhawi Mebrahtu and Filmon Kibrom, second and fourth at the finish line, 12 and 29 seconds behind the winner, and Ugandan Leonard Chemutai, third in 22.
